Industrial Finishes Unite to Create Award Winning Bathroom

Fresh concrete, blackened steel, dark timber and lustrous pearl – four aesthetics that together formed the winning entry in one of New Zealand’s foremost bathroom design competitions*. Traditionally considered the domain of the industrial design aesthetic, these finishes illustrate how a cleverly curated palette can create a unique level of elegance and luxury.
Designed by Christchurch-based Lume Design, the master ensuite features a mix of rich, dark surfaces – a timber-look tile, chosen for its deep tones and complex grain changes, and blackened steel used in custom-designed suspended heated towel rails and round mirror detailing. Complementing these, and providing a light, fresh backdrop, is Caesarstone’s Fresh Concrete quartz surface on the vanity top, along with pearl coloured tiles.
Lighting is used to both highlight the texture and tonal changes of the finishes as well as create mood, while Caesarstone® was chosen for its authentic replication of newly poured concrete together with its superior functional benefits of being scratch, heat, chip and stain resistance.
Caesarstone, available in 37 quartz surfaces, is committed to the highest safety and environmental standards and carries the ISO 14001 international standard for environmental management and performance.
