Modern Beauty

Starting over was the plan for this 1950s weatherboard home.

Perched on the headland overlooking Bronte Beach this newly built residence is the quintessential contemporary beach house designed to capitalise on the outstanding views over the beach and coast.

Replacing a weathered 1950s single storey house with a contemporary style dwelling was the brief for design firm, Corben Architects and builder, FS Hough.

To embrace its stunning beachside location, large sliding anodised aluminium windows and doors were used to take in views from every room. Louvres and timber screens line the home, maintaining privacy whilst maximising the surrounding views. Native plants were also chosen to complement the beachside environment.

For this three-bedroom home, environmental considerations also influenced the design. Rainwater tanks, energy efficient glazing and insulated cavity walls were incorporated.

The interior is just as impressive with Caesarstone® quartz surfaces used to transform both the kitchen and bathroom spaces.

“When it comes to beautiful yet easy to maintain quartz benchtops, we choose CaesarStone”, says project architect Mohit Keni of Corben Architects.

The kitchen is modern, with simple and sleek lines. The kitchen island, which doubles as a breakfast bar, is made from high quality Caesarstone® in Nimbus, and to great effect frames a dark timber veneer panel. The architect complemented these products with Blackbutt wooden flooring throughout, sleek veneer cabinetry and stainless steel appliances, all enhanced by dramatic lighting.

In the main bathroom both the shower and bath are tiled with a deep pink mosaic tile, creating a striking feature. The Roger Seller taps were cleverly matched in the same bold colour. The benchtop made from Caesarstone® in Mangrove provides an effective contrast, and is ideal for the bathroom area as it is non-porous and is both mould and mildew resistant, due to stand the tests of time.

“The quartz surface used in both the kitchen and bathrooms was the perfect choice for a young family requiring a low maintenance yet durable home, while the product itself also offers the sleek and contemporary aesthetic desired by the client”, says Mohit Keni.

Adding to the appeal of the home is the impressive coastal views offered from every angle, its dimensional design and the choice of quality materials used throughout this spectacular home.
